Aviation has made the world smaller. Each day thousands of people fly to other countries and continents. Flight safety is of vital importance. Graduated Aviation Studies Engineers are technical experts on the systems of airplanes and airports. They are constantly optimizing maintenance and operations in order to secure safe and economic use of airplanes.

Aviation Studies is a Bachelor of Engineering program of the Amsterdam School of Technology and includes the following specializations: Aviation Engineering, Aviation Flight, Air Traffic Management and Aviation Management. This makes Aviation Studies a unique bachelor program in Europe.

Aviation Engineering focuses on all technical aspects of the use of airplanes, such as maintenance processes, inspections, flight procedures, operations and management.

Aviation Flight is a specialization in which the commercial pilot license program is integrated in the bachelor program of Aviation Engineering. Graduate students attain a bachelor degree in Engineering and, if selected and capable, the Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL).

Air Traffic Management is, as of September 2007, a new specialization of Aviation Engineering in which the training for Air Traffic Controller is done in association with Air Traffic Control the Netherlands (LVNL). Students graduate as Bachelor of Engineering, and if selected and capable, become a licensed Air Traffic Controller.

Aviation Management is an international honor program, a graduation year in which students learn to manage airports and airlines, including all associated processes and their negotiations with governmental - and non governmental organizations.
Students are selected after an assessment. International students with at least three years education in a bachelor program are welcome to apply for this program. This specialization offers perspectives in the field of managing airlines, airports and the government.

The aviation industry is changing extremely fast. Aviation Studies uses real life situations as the basis for education, technical and economic aspects are considered. The program encourages students to see beyond their own limitations, to take initiative and to be inventive. These skills are very useful for acquiring new expertise in a future job. Aviation Studies can only be attended in Amsterdam. Moreover, there is no better place to study Aviation studies than Amsterdam, close to Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, the busy Hub with many airlines, handlers, Air Traffic Control, and other companies that operate in the region.
