Sergem Technology & Business Development is an independent Engineering & Technology to Business consultancy, specialising in the Aerospace & Defence sector. Our competence builds on 30 years of experience in this industry, often successfully translated to other domains.
It is our vision that in technology-intensive domains, succeeding is only possible when alignment exists between technical ambitions and market objectives. This is why Sergem mission is boosting clients’ profitability by realising unprecedented synergism between technology and business.
With our “technology-business case” approach, we bring together technology-push and market pull, in single projects as well as entire organisations. By operating integrated teams of engineering & business consultants and implementing our dedicated best practices, we make sure that each aspect and requirement, be it technical or financial, is handled within a single framework, minimizing costs, risks and timing.
To fulfil such ambition, Sergem workforce brings in practical problem solvers as well as PhD’s and MBA’s. It is worth mentioning that many of us formerly worked at Fokker Aircraft, where we learned to deal with the complexities of advanced aerospace programmes.

Such an integrated platform allows Sergem to tackle the challenges faced nowadays by high-tech organisations with a two-sided approach, which creates unique added value, virtually covering the whole development chain.
Our clients include preeminent aerospace OEM’s such as Fokker Aerostructures, Fokker Services, NG Aircraft, Airbus Germany, Boeing GSM, Sabca and Eurocopter Germany as well as the Dutch Armed Forces, the Dutch Government and various European Institutions. Among our non-aerospace customers, we count companies engaged in the energy sector such as Suzlon and Shell as well as shipyards and companies from the transport industry.
Sergem also participates in national and European research programmes (FP7, Clean Sky), where we cooperate with top-tier universities and research institutes as well as some of the most successful European aerospace companies.
By leveraging on our expertise in aerospace technologies, we formulate integrated protocols for the MRO market, where life-cycle and asset management profits from sound engineering insight. With this know-how, Sergem participates in the Maastricht Maintenance Boulevard initiative.
Furthermore, Sergem is member of EKCC, a consortium of Dutch MKBs aiming to shake the very fundaments of composites sustainability. In cooperation with NLR and TUDelft, the EKCC initiative aspires to introduce on the market a whole series of ground-breaking methods and techniques, integrated in a consistent platform, for repairing and inspecting composite materials. EKCC final goals are:
- Bringing damage tolerance philosophy into the design paradigm of composites aerostructures by developing and implementing relevant NDT techniques, damage growth models and design methods
- Realising certifiable bonded joints for aircraft primary structures in composite materials
Last but not least, our broad and varied network allows our value proposal to go beyond our inhouse expertise, allowing us to act a single-point of reference for complex projects, involving the most different disciplines and competences.
Sergem: Dedicated to bridging the gap between R&D and value creation with a solid engineering core and specific business expertise to turn technical innovation into competitive advantage.
